Make In Minutes Prized Peony Card

Prized Peony Stampin' Up!

Hello Friends,

Believe it or not, you CAN MAKE THIS CARD IN MINUTES.  It may look crazy beautiful, but it is really a simple card to make with the Prized Peony stamps by Stampin' Up!.

Heat Embossing The Beginner's Wow Technique

Heat Embossing is one of those beginner stamping techniques that deliver a whole lot of Wow, but it is surprisingly easy to do.

Today, we are embossing on vellum, but you can Heat Emboss on any paper.  Start by rubbing your paper with a dryer sheet or embossing buddy to prepare the surface.

Next, stamp your sentiment or image using VersaMark ink.  VersaMark is a sticky ink perfect for the Heat Embossing Technique.

Sprinkle Embossing Powder over your stamped image and tap off the excess.  I used gold Embossing Powder.

Heat with Heat Tool to melt all the Embossing Powder.  Wow!

Finishing This Card In 3 Simple Steps

Do you remember the first time that you touched your inked stamp to paper and how awestruck you were at the beautiful image that you created?  Do it again when you stamp this gorgeous peony with Rococo Rose Ink.  Then wrap your embossed vellum piece around your peony.

Stamp a few smaller peonies across the bottom of your 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" Rococo Rose Card Base.

The pretty gold in the background is simply a piece taken from the Forever Gold Laser-Cut Specialty Paper.

Curvy Celebrations Slimline Cards

Curvy Celebrations Stampin' Up!

2 Hot Topics in the Stamping World

Slimline Cards

Hello Friends,

Two trending topics in the stamping and cardmaking world are Slimline Cards and the new Curvy Celebrations products from Stampin' Up!.  So today I will share both how to make Slimline Cards and a Sneak Peek of the Curvy Celebrations products that will be available starting November 3.   See Curvy Celebrations Flyer Here.

Let's see what all the chatter is about!

Slimline Cards

What's the BIG Deal About Slimline Cards?

Slimline Card fit nicely in standard #9 or #10 envelopes that are readily available in almost any store.

You can fit more design elements on a Slimline card.

Do you find yourself bored with the standard size card?  Try a Slimline Card.  This tall narrow card is a refreshing change of pace.  Of course, there's also the option of making Slimline Cards on a smaller scale, but we will talk about that another day.

Slimline Card Measurements

Cut Card Base 8-1/2" x 7-1/2".  Note 8-1/2" is the height of the card.  Score at 3-3/4".

After cutting your card base from an 8-1/2" x 11" piece of card stock, you will have a piece leftover that works nicely for a front panel.  I trimmed mine to 8" x 3-1/4".  Then I dry embossed the front panel with my Subtle Embossing Folder for just a hint of texture.

Notice the two different options that I used for my leaves border.  The leaves can be stamped and then colored or they can be stamped directly on colored card stock.  Both options are pretty.  I used Just Jade card stock and Just Jade Stampin' Blends for today's cards.

Rain or Shine Autumn Card

Under My Umbrella Stampin' Up!

Punches and Designer Paper create beautiful design elements for handmade cards.

Under My Umbrella Stampin' Up!

Hello Friends,

A couple of nights ago we had a lovely autumn thunderstorm.  Not a booming storm, more like a steady rain with an occasion crackle of thunder.  I slept like a rock and that's what inspired today's Rain or Shine Autumn card complete with rain boots and umbrellas.

Under My Umbrella Stampin' Up!

With my much loved Autumn Punch Pack, Umbrella Builder Punch, and Plaid Tidings Designer paper at my fingertips, I was able to quickly produce lots of adorable design elements for my card.  Playing with my punches and designer paper brings back memories of playing with paper dolls as a little girl. The frame was created using two dies from my Layering Squares die set.  After that everything sort of fell into place.

Under My Umbrella Stampin' Up!

Today's card required minimal stamping with the Under My Umbrella stamp set and a few inks and boom just like that my card was complete.
