Scrapbooking Made Simple

Hello Friends,

Yesterday, we talked about moving beyond Paper Hoarders Anonymous. Let's actually use our pretty papers to make cards, scrapbooks and other things.  We all have pictures (memories) lying around waiting to be shared.  Designer Paper is an easy way to pull your scrapbook pages together.  It simplifies the process.

How to Use Designer Paper for Scrapbooking

First, you can simply use a single sheet as the starting point for your scrapbook layout as I did in the Wild About You Scrapbook Page above.  I'll be using the Animal Expedition Designer Paper for all 4 Scrapbook Ideas that I will be sharing today.

To make coordination even simpler, I used the coordinating Animal Outings stamp set to embellish my tag.  Colten and Tenneson were trying to swing as high as a giraffe.

Or you can try using several different paper patterns.  Cut them into different shapes and sizes for a pleasing backdrop for your scrapbook layout.

Another nice thing about using designer paper for scrapbooking is that your designer paper can determine your color scheme.  It takes the guesswork out of choosing colors for your scrapbook page.  I love that Stampin' Up! lists all the colors in their designer paper!  It makes the process even easier.  For instance, the Animal Expedition paper includes Basic Black, Basic Gray, Berry Burst, Call Me Clover, Calypso Coral, Crumb Cake, Crushed Curry, Lemon Lime Twist, Melon Mambo, Pool Party, Poppy Parade, Shade Spruce and Whisper White.

For your convenience, I've included a  list of scrapbooking supplies used in today's Scrapbook pages at the bottom of this post.  What about you?  Do you have some designer paper that would look great on your scrapbook pages?

Inspire Your Heart With Art

Hello Friends,

Bet you didn't know that it is Inspire Your Heart With Art Day?  It is and I rose to the challenge with 3 Paper Crafting Projects.  Which is your favorite way to express yourself with Paper Crafts?  Is it Home Decor?  Is it Scrapbooking?  Or is it Card Making?  Today, I have wall art, a scrapbook layout and a card featuring the bold and beautiful Bloom by Bloom stamp set.  With the Deep Freeze, as weather channels are calling it, the Bloom by Bloom stamp set in bright and cheery colors seemed the way to go.

Who says that you can't use flowers for Boys Scrapbook Pages?  For today's page I stamped blooms with Blueberry Bushel, Granny Apple Green and Pineapple Punch inks.  The Pineapple Punch especially reminds me of sunshine and fun.  Thinking of sunshine and warm days, I included my sunshine die from the Sunshine Wishes Framelits Die set.  Since my grandsons are doing a little frog hunting with nets, I couldn't resist a Blueberry Bushel net cut with my Under the Sea Dies.  If you have been following my blog lately, you've probably already guessed the other die set that I can't seem to resist using.  It's the Be Mine Framelits die set.  Besides the great hearts, it also cuts the cute stitched scalloped edge.

This happy Bloom by Bloom is sure to pull anyone and everyone out of the doldrums.  Again, I used bright primary colors (Pineapple Punch, Blueberry Bushel and Lovely Lipstick) with one secondary color (Granny Apple Green) thrown in for good measure.  I challenge you not to smile when you look at the bright and cheery Pineapple Punch Stitched Label with the Blueberry Bushel happiest birthday wish dancing across the front.  The sentiment is from one of my go to birthday stamp sets, Picture Perfect Birthday.

And now for the crazy cute Inspire Your Heart with Art Wall Art that started it all.  Again, I started with the Bloom by Bloom stamp set.  I used an array of dies sets starting with the Be Mine Framelits Die set for all the hearts and the stitched scallop trim.  My ticket label and pretty embossed stitched design in the background were made with the Stitched Labels framelits die set.  And I cut my letters with the Large Letters Framelits Die Set.  The pretty Lovely Lipstick polka-dot paper is from the All My Love Designer Series Paper.  I swiped my words from various stamp sets that I had on the shelf.  (Part of My Story, Best Catch)

Be Mine Scrapbook Layout

Hello Friends,

If you were here yesterday, you know that I made a card with the Be Mine Framelits Dies from Stampin' Up! and that I was so impressed with the dies that I wanted to try a Scrapbook Layout.  You may also notice that today's You Make Me Smile Scrapbook Layout looks a lot like yesterday's card only expanded with a picture of my granddaughter, Sadie.

Scrapbook Design Tips

There are just so many beautiful dies in the Be Mine Framelits die set.  I simply cut a variety in mostly Whisper White with a touch of Flirty Flamingo and Vellum thrown in for good measure.  The white on white looks so classy with just a pop of color.

Are you one of those people that struggle with choosing which side of the designer paper to use?  Here's a thought.  I used both sides of my All My Love Designer Paper making my title bar.  I cut Sadie's name with my Large Letter Framelits Dies, then used the reverse side of my paper to make my band.

You Make Me Smile Scrapbook

Sadie's surprised look picture looks adorable all by itself, but to add just a little interest, I ran the picture through my Big Shot with my Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies.

Here's 2 Tips for using vellum on your Scrapbook pages.  Because vellum is a nonporous surface, stamp with Jet Black Stazon ink.  I used a sentiment from the Colorful Seasons stamp set.  The second tip involves ninja tricks for securing vellum without leaving telltale adhesive marks.  Tuck the vellum behind something that is solid like I did with my card stock.  Then place your adhesive on the vellum behind the card stock.

Speaking of hearts, I want to thank you for all your thoughts and prayers for my Dad.  He is doing well after a 5 Bypass Surgery.
