Simple Coloring Tips for Cards

Free As a Bird Stampin' Up!

Hello Friends,

Recently, I've had a lot of requests for simple coloring techniques, so I thought that I would share with you some coloring tips for making today's Free As a Bird Card in a Video Tutorial.  I love the soft colors on these handsome little birds.

Learn some simple Coloring Techniques for handmade cards using the Free As A Bird stamp set and Stampin' Blends from Stampin' Up!.

Clematis from the garden

I mentioned in my video that I would show you some clematises from my garden. This one is a little pinker than the Purple Posy color, but they are just so pretty that I had to share.

Bell Clematis

These little bell clematises are a little deeper and a little bluer than the new purple posy color.  What would you say?  Are they a cross between the 2 clematises? Anyway, let me give you a bit more card detail.

I splattered a bit of Calypso Coral ink with my aqua painter across my card face to add a splash of additional color.  The "thanks" was cut with the Well Written dies and Purple Posy Card Stock.  and layered behind my bird is a snip of Very Vanilla lace Trim and some frayed Nature's Twine (Blackberry Bliss).  Scroll down for a Clickable link card supply list.

Hello Friends,

I just love playing with new colors!  Let's do our annual Stampin' Up! In Color Comparisons!  I'm also showing off a new bundle in the 2019-2020 Stampin' Up! She's a Pocketful of Sunshine

Pocketful of Sunshine Stampin' Up!

Hello Friends,

Thirteen, do you remember turning 13?  It's the nebulous stage between little girl and woman.  Today's Pocketful of Sunshine Birthday Card is for my niece, Tori, who turns 13 this month.  The Pocketful of Sunshine stamp set is a fun choice for that in between stage.  It's cute, it's playful and it's just a little bit grown up.

Design Tips

Who doesn't love Polka Dots and checks?  I added a splash of checks by only inking a small portion of my Buffalo Check background stamp.  The polka dots were introduced with the Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon.

For texture, I heat embossed in White my stitched pocket stamps from the Pocketful of Sunshine stamp set.  Then, I embossed the whole pocket with the Subtle Embossing Folder to make it look like fabric.

Every 13 year old girl needs a little bling, so I added Silver Pool Party Baker's Twine and a sprinkling of Iridescent Sequins.

Cutting the pocket with the Pocket Framelit dies creates a nifty pocket for inserting a little cash or gift.  The fold over tabs make a perfect pocket.

A complete list of supplies for today's card are listed at the bottom of this post along with clickable links for your shopping convenience.

I borrowed the bright and cheerful color combination of aqua, red and silver from this week's Color Throwdown Challenge.  I used Coastal Cabana and Real Red Ink and added a splash of silver with my silver pool party baker's twine.

Add a little sunshine to someone's life.  Make a card with the Pocketful of Sunshine stamps.
