2 Card Challenges

Positive Thoughts Stampin' Up!

Hello Friends,

During these uncertain times escaping to your Craft Space and letting your creativity run wild is even more important than ever.  So today, I have 2 card challenges for you to get your mojo started.  Are you up for the challenge?  Let me first tell you about the 2 challenges and then I will share tips for making today's card.

Card Color Challenge

Challenge #1 Color

Try making a card, a scrapbook layout or any other papercraft using Calypso Coral, Pretty Peacock, Crushed Curry, Coastal Cabana, Smoky Slate, and Whisper White.

Follow Your Art Stampin' Up!

Challenge #2

Most of us have a hefty stash of beautiful designer paper.  Here's the Challenge.  Use your designer paper in an unexpected way.  For example, I used the Follow Your Art Designer Paper to make today's card.  Naturally, the Follow Your Art Designer Paper was designed to be used with the Follow Your Art Suite found on pages 52-54 of the 2019-2020 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog.  I used a piece that looked like a color wash as a panel on my card.  To make it even more interesting, I stamped "Hugs, Prayers and Love" directly on my designer paper.

Positive Thoughts Stampin' Up!

Let's talk about today's card which used both of today's challenges.  Everything was stamped with the Positive Thoughts stamp set using colors from today's Color Challenge.  I do have a confession to make.  The die set that I used for today's card is not currently available, but.......it will be available again with the launch of the 2020-2021 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog.  The dies are called Nature's Thoughts.  So if you missed them in February watch for them in June. Finishing touches for today's card are a Crushed Curry Double Bow and a bit of Smoky Slate Splatters.  Simply make a watery mix of Smoky Slate ink and splatter with either an Aqua Painter or a paintbrush.

5 Card Color Combinations Plus Holiday Paper Shares

Dinosaur Bridge Card

Hello Friends,

I shared with you a video on How to  Make Bridge Card a few weeks ago.  Bridge Cards are simple  3-D Cards that will fold flat for mailing.  You can catch the Bridge Card Tutorial here.  But today, let's talk about color combination ideas.  For all 5 of today's cards, I took my cue from my Designer Paper.

For our first dinosaur card, I used the Dinoroar Designer Paper by Stampin' Up!.  Each pack of Stampin' Up! the designer paper lists the colors in the paper.  Dinoroar Designer Paper includes Flirty Flamingo, Lovely Lipstick, Mango Melody, Old Olive, Pineapple Punch, Pool Party, Pretty Peacock, and Whisper White.  So for my first card, I used Mango Melody, Lovely Lipstick and Pretty Peacock card stock and inks.  I also used the Grandma's House stamp set and my Hand-Lettered Prose dies for my kisses and hugs and to spell out Nana.

For my second Dinoroar Bridge Card, I chose Old Olive, Pretty Peacock, Mango Melody, and Lovely Lipstick.

And for my third Dinosaur Bridge card, I chose to use Pretty Peacock, Pool Party, Mango Melody and Lovely Lipstick for my color combo.

How to Make a Bridge Card

For cards 4 and 5, I used the Follow Your Art Designer Paper by Stampin' Up! which lists Basic Gray, Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral, Coastal Cabana, Crushed Curry, Pacific Point, and Whisper White.  For card number 4 I choose Calypso Coral, Pacific Point and Basic Gray for my color combination.  My hearts were cut with the Stitched Be Mine Dies.  Are you beginning to see just how easy it is to come up with color combinations for your cards with Designer Paper?

Fancy Fold Card
And finally, card number 5 sports Pacific Point, Calypso Coral, Coastal Cabana, and Basic Gray.
