Handmade Card for Fisherman

handmade card for fishermen

Hello Friends,

Let's make a handmade card for a fisherman.  My son, Bryan, has a birthday coming up, so it was a good chance for me to use my Best Catch Stamp Set and my Catch of the Day Dies.  He's an outdoorsman through and through, so I think he'll like his card.

Best Catch Stampin' Up!

I did use one additional die from the Under the Sea Framelits dies.  I really dig that net and it seemed to fit today's Fisherman Card.

I looked at some pictures of Rainbow Trout.  This is my best rendition of a rainbow trout.   Hopefully, it meets with Bryan's approval.  I colored this handsome dude with a handful of Watercolor pencils and my blender pen.  I used Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral and Old Olive with a hint of Early Espresso.

I framed my scene with a Stitched Rectangle die.  For my cattails, I cut them from Old Olive Card Stock, then the tops with my Soft Suede Stampin' blends.

With 6 sons and 9 grandsons, not to mention my Brother, Dad and Husband,  I have lots of masculine occasions for handmade cards.  The Best Catch stamp set and Catch of the Day dies will be a great addition to my craft room for when I need to make masculine cards.  The outdoor theme is ruggedly appealing.

Punch Art Baseball

Punch Art Baseball

Hello Friends,

Have you ever looked up into the clouds and imaged a sheep skipping across the sky?  It's called imagination!  It's amazing the things that you can make in your craft room with a little imagination.  I created today's Baseball card for my grandson, Grady, with supplies that I already had in my craft room.  I simply looked at them in a new way.  Today, I'll show you how to make this Punch Art Baseball Card step by step with a picture tutorial.

Punch Art Baseball

Spoiler Alert:  My Punch Art Baseball Card wasn't made with exclusively punches.  I also you used dies and stamps.  Specifically, I used the Pocket Framelit Dies and the Pocketful of Sunshine stamp set to make my handsome slugger.

Punch Art Baseball

The first step is to let your mind run free like you do when you see a pirate ship in the clouds.  If you need a little help with this, you can also try music to get in the groove.  One of the nice things about working from home is that I can do outlandish things like dance to "Y'all Ready for this" in my PJ's.  It's great bumper music for sports and it's great workout music too.

Punch Art Baseball Tips & Tricks

Sunglasses were a must for my baseball player, so I stamped and cut them with my Pocket Framelit Dies and the Pocketful of Sunshine stamp set.  Then, I colored them with my Poppy Parade Stampin' Blends.

My Baseball Head was simply cut with my 2-1/4" Circle Punch.  Hint:  I curved my stamp before stamping my stitching on my baseball.
Punch Art

To make his baseball cap, I once again used my 2-1/4" Circle punch.   This time I only cut partial circles in Night of Navy and Real Red.

Now for the important part of his baseball cap.  Grady is the 2nd biggest Cleveland Indians Baseball fan that I ever met. His Dad is biggest Cleveland Indians fan that I ever met.  So, you can see why it was very important get a C on the cap.  To do this, I stamped a Night of Navy C on Real Red Card Stock using my Labeler Alphabet stamp and cut it out.  The Labeler Alphabet has saved more than one project, I'm so glad that I have it in my Craft Room.

My Baseball Player's body is another die from the Pocket Framelit Die set.  It's meant to be money, but I think that it makes a perfectly dandy torso.  The stitching on his uniform and his smile are also stamps from the Pocketful of Sunshine stamp set.

His feet are another die from the Pocket Die set, but you could also use a circle punch.

His legs were cut with the Classic Label Punch.  And his arm was cut with the Duet Banner Punch.  I sliced it in half to make his arm more slender.  An oval punch would probably also work for the arm.

Baseball Punch Art

I formed the baseball mitt in several steps.  First, I cut a 1-1/4" Circle.  Then, I used the same circle punch to clip off a partial circle from the bottom of the mitt.  Next, I used another die from the Pocket framelits die set and cut over my circle.  Note: The finger pieces will fall out, but you can hold them in place with adhesive.  And finally, I used the framelit as a template for trimming the top edge of my glove.

Handmade Birthday Card

To stay with my Punch Art/Die theme.  I cut my inside Happy Birthday with the Happy Birthday Thinlits Die.

One final note about today's Punch Art Baseball Card.  It's considerably larger than a normal card.  My Card Base is 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" scored at 4-1/4".

Y'all Ready for this?  Look around your Craft Room for supplies that you already have on hand.  If you are missing a few supplies, you can purchase them below.
