Today's one layer card pairs the Under My Umbrella and The Gang's All Meer stamp sets. The little meerkat poking his head out of the rain boots is a happy surprise. Stamps are fun stamped directly on your cards but every now and then we want to shake things up and do something a little different. Today was one of those days for me. I used a tried and true card making technique called Paper Piecing.
Paper Piecing 3 Ways
This card making technique is sometimes forgotten which is a shame because it really adds a lot of interest to handmade cards. Plus, it adds dimension in an uncomplicated way.
- For the umbrella, I simply stamped on a piece of Follow Your Art Designer Paper and punched it out with the Umbrella Builder Punch then layered on my card.
- The hat is stamped and cut out with a pair of snips and glued above the lizard's head.
- And the boots were stamped, colored and cut then place over the meerkat.
I stamped raindrops on my boots to give them a playful pattern. Then, I colored them with my Night of Navy and Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends (alcohol markers).
The Under My Umbrella stamp set along with the Umbrella Builder Punch are from page 42 of the 2020 Stampin' Up! Mini Catalog. The stamp set is cute all by itself, but when you combine it with the Gang's All Meer Sale-a-bration stamp set it's bursting with cuteness. Plus, The Gang's All Meer stamp set is free with a qualifying purchase. My sentiments are actually from another stamp set that was a Sale-a-bration gift. It's called Sending You Thoughts.
