Home to Roost

Home to Roost Stampin' Up!

Hello Friends,

This is first time for me to ink up my Home to Roost stamp set.  I know that the colors of my rooster are probably outrageous, but after what I saw yesterday, anything is possible.  Besides, I think he looks handsome and I had fun coloring him.

Peacock in Ohio

You can imagine how perplexed I was when I saw this guy meandering across my yard yesterday afternoon.  I live in Ohio and it was only 30 something yesterday.  Who knew that peacocks could adapt so well.  For being so proud, this guy sure did not want his picture taken.  I followed him all over my yard before I was able to capture this shot of him.

I watercolored my handsome rooster with a wide array of colors.  The blues are Pacific Point, Blueberry Bushel and Night of Navy.  For the greens, I used Old Olive and Mossy Meadow inks.  His comb was colored with Poppy Parade.

When I think of roosters, I think sunrise and loud Cock-a-doodle-doing, so I sponged a sunrise with So Saffron, Flirty Flamingo, Melon Mambo and Balmy Blue inks.

Did I mention that the Home to Roost stamp set is available for Free during Sale-a-bration (now through March 3, 2019) with a qualifying purchase?

Step One is to fold your card on the score line.  Let me let you in on a little secret.  The easiest way to make a card is to start with Note Cards & Envelopes. They're ready for you to make and send a card.  Each package contains 20 cards and envelopes already cut and scored.

Step Two is cutting and it is actually an optional step.  You only need to do this step if you color your horse.  The color from the Stampin' Blends will bleed through and show on the inside.  To cover it up cut a 4-3/4 x 3-1/4 piece of card stock for the left inside to cover the bleed through.  This card stock can be a coordinating color or just Whisper White.

Step 4 is coloring.  Color random splashes of Soft Suede onto your horse using a Soft Suede Stampin' Blend.  Then, trace the grass using the nub end of your Old Olive Stampin' Blend.  Color the hooves using the using the nub end of a Basic Black Stampin' Blend.

Let It Ride Framed Art Tips

For today's project, I grabbed a frame, then measured my openings.

Next, I stamped my horse with Tuxedo Black Ink and Colored with my Soft Suede, Old Olive and Black Stampin' Blends.

For added ruggedness, I ran the whole thing through my Big Shot with my Pinewood Planks Dynamic Impressions Embossing Folder.

And finally, I stamped "Live as if someone left the gate open.  Bing, Bang, my project was done!
