Picture Perfect Birthday Card To Make

Picture Perfect Birthday Stampin' Up!

Hello Friends,

Can you believe that tomorrow is November already?  We have a boatload of November birthdays in our family.  So I have been busily making birthday cards in October to send out in November.   Now the trick is to actually get them mailed before the birthdays.  If you have a lot of Birthday Cards to make, I highly recommend the Picture Perfect Birthday stamps.  It has candles, bows, confetti, party blowouts and sentiments in fun fonts.  Plus, the Picture Perfect Birthday stamps is a gender neutral stamp set.  Today's Birthday card is all feminine and light, but yesterday's Birthday Card was rugged and handsome.

Card Design Tips

I lightly sponged my background with Coastal Cabana Ink, then stamped my confetti.

My Stitched Labels Dies came to the rescue once again, this time for the sentiment which I stamped with Gorgeous Grape Ink.

My bow and candles were stamped with Coastal Cabana, Melon Mambo and Gorgeous Grape Inks and fussy cut.

The Take a Pick Tool is such a time saver when it comes to adding sequins to your hand stamped cards.

How to Personalize a Birthday Card for Dad

Handmade Birthday Card for Dad

Hello Friends,

My Dad's Birthday is coming up next month and I thought that it might be fun to personalize his Birthday Card this year.  The key to making great guy cards is simplicity.  Fluff is out when making cards for the guys in your life.  Dad's Birthday Card started with the striking Broadway Bound Designer Paper.  The black, white and gold candles are a fabulous way to start a Birthday Card.

Handmade Personalized Birthday Card

To compliment the Broadway Bound Paper.  I cut a gold foil and a whisper white oval with my Layering Ovals Dies.  Next, it was time to stamp.  To personalize Dad's Card, I used the Make a Difference stamps to spell out Dad.  The Happy Birthday and the party blowout were stamped with the Picture Perfect Birthday stamps.  I gold embossed the party blowout fringe and fussy cut my party toy to place it where I wanted it.  And the "fabulous at any age" was stamped with the Itty Bitty Greetings stamps.

Hand Stamped Card Idea by Robin Feicht

Inside I stamped a simple birthday sentiment from the Picture Perfect Party stamps and my Handmade Birthday Card for Dad was done!  So the next time you need a simple and quick card, pick a paper and start stamping.

Masking Technique with Rooted in Nature

Rooted in Nature Stampin' Up!

Hello Friends,

Fall is here in all it's glory in Ohio and I'm making a winter scene Birthday Card.  What's up with that?  Guess I couldn't help myself, my Rooted in Nature stamp set was calling me to come play.   Have you ever tried the Masking Technique in your Card Making?  It's a great technique for making scenes or One layer Cards.

Rooted in Nature Stampin' Up!

Design Tips

I'll explain about the Masking Technique in just a moment, but first let me share a few other design tips.

  • Making a snowy scene is amazingly easy to do with an aqua painter, a bit of Whisper White Craft Ink and splattering.  It's sorta ironic that I intentionally splattered white ink on my card today, because this weekend after painting my bedroom I spent a considerable amount of time cleaning up splattered paint from my wood floor.  Guess it was a bit liberating.  Anyway, to splatter ink with your aqua painter, load the ink and snap the aqua painter with your index finger.  Repeat as needed.
  • The playful Happy Birthday stamp is from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set.  I inked it with Rich Razzleberry Ink.
  • Technically, my card is not a true One Layer Card, because I did add the pine embellishments which I created using my Winter Woods stamps and my In the Woods Dies.

Masking Technique Card Making

Masking Technique Explained

For today's Masking Technique I created 2 different masks or stencils with my Layering Ovals dies and my Nature's Roots Dies.  First, I created my Oval Mask, so that I could keep all my stamping and sponging contained within my oval.  Then, I created a second mask to create my snow banks.  By moving my second mask around a few times and lightly sponging along the top  with Smoky Slate ink, I was able to create my beautiful snow banks within my oval.

To finish off the inside, I kept with my snowy theme.  The snowflakes were cut with my Blizzard Thinlit Die.  My sentiment was heat embossed white on Rich Razzleberry and I once again splattered snow on my background.
