Lightning Bugs, also known as Fireflies, swooping around in the night time sky make summer magical. They bring out the kid in all of us. And if you share the magic with a child, its all the better. Who doesn't love to bring out a jar and make little lanterns illuminated by nature?
In the world of Card Making interactive Slider (Spinner) Cards are the magic that never fails to bring a smile. Today, I wanted to capture both with a Firefly Spinner Card made with the Jar of Love Stamp Set and the Everyday Jars Framelits Dies.
Heidi from the Stampin' Up home office does an excellent job showing How to Make a Slider (Spinner) Card in this Video Tutorial.
Robin's Firefly Spinner Card Tips
The firefly isn't big enough to cover the penny or washer to make the spinner, so I backed it with a 3/4" Gold Foil Circle. As a bonus, the gold foil shines as it spins across the card. Yep, that's calls for a happy dance.
To give my jar the look of glass, I stamped it with Jet Black Stazon Ink onto a Window sheet before cutting with the Everyday Jars Framelit dies. Then, I wrapped a little piece of Linen Thread around the neck to give it a little country feel and a bit of dimension.
A Silver Foil Sheet and Silver Embossing Powder were just what I needed to make my shiny metal lid. I stamped my lid directly on the Silver Foil Sheet with VersaMark ink, then heat embossed with Silver Embossing Powder. After it cooled, I cut it with the Everyday Jars Framelits Dies and my Big Shot.
I have one more little surprise for you. The cutout from the Sliding Star Framelit Dies looks so much like a smile that I simply couldn't help myself. I just had to make a smiley face.
