Postcard Pals Congratulations Card

Postcard Pals Stampin' Up!

Hello Friends,

Joe and I are so blessed to have 6 amazing sons, 5 fabulous daughter-in-laws and 14 incredible grandchildren.  We love them all so very much, but today I want to honor our son, Jonathan who recently successfully defended his dissertation to complete his Doctorate Program!  Such an occasion calls for a handmade card.  For countless years, Jonathan has signed all his family cards and correspondence as Awesome.  So I turned to the "You're totally Awesome" sentiment and the adorable beaver from the Postcard Pals stamp set for his card.

Jonathan defends his thesis

Congratulations Doctor Jonathan Feicht!

Postcard Pals Stampin' Up!

Yesterday, the Winter Woods stamp set took center stage, but today its plays a supporting role.  I admire the way that the Winter Woods stamp set plays so well with others.  Today, it supplied the 3 background trees for my beaver.

More Card Tips and Tricks

I color washed my background with Pool Party ink, the fussy cut my 3 trees.

My beaver was colored with Stampin' Blends and popped up with dimensionals.  I also popped up my sentiment.
Freshly Made SketchesA big thanks to Freshly Made Sketches for today's Card Sketch.  My trees and sentiment follow the sketch closely.  I took a little artistic license and added the beaver.

Create your own adorable cards with the Postcard Pals or the Winter Woods stamp sets.  Supplies are available below in my Online Store.

Have a fabulous day,

Spirited Snowmen

Spirited Snowmen Stampin' Up!

Hello Friends,

Here in Ohio, we've recently experienced a wave of sweltering heat and we're simply not used to that kind of heat. At least, I'm not.  To celebrate the break in temperatures, I thought that it might be fun to play with the Spirited Snowmen stamp set from the 2018 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog.  I actually made two cards with the Spirited Snowmen.  I'll share them both.  They are both simple one layered cards (half a sheet of card stock) that are essentially the same with subtle differences.  Which one do you like better?

Spirited Snowmen Stampin' Up!

Joe liked one better and I liked the other better, so I thought that it would be fun to hear from you.  Cast your vote in the comments at the bottom of this post.

The first one ends with Iridescent sequins and the second was embossed with a die from the Stitched Labels Thinlits Dies.  The snowmen are colored with Real Red, Pool Party, Smoky Slate and Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Blends.

Spirited Snowmen Stampin' Up!

The Take a Pick Tool makes it so, so easy to grab the itty, bitty sequins and pop them in place.

Spirited Snowmen Stampin' Up!

Most of the Stitched Labels Thinlits dies are dies for cutting, but this piece gives sort of a pierced emboss look.

Spirited Snowmen Stampin' Up!

The snowmen looked like they were just floating there in space, so I anchored them by drawing a snow line with my Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker.  Then I lightly floated a ribbon of light Pool Party with my light Pool Party Stampin' Blend.  Then I quickly blended the whole thing with my color lifter to give a softer look.  And finally, I swiped a stamp from my Fabulous Flamingo stamp set to stamp "That was awesome".

So what's your vote?

Do you like the sequins or the stitched embossed look?

Shadow Box Card Inspired by Up Animated Film

UP Film Inspired Card

Hello Friends,

Have you ever watched the Up animated film?  It will have you roaring with laughter one moment and grabbing for a box of tissue the next.  Up is a heart warming tale truly worth watching.  It comes as no surprise to me that Up was named the #1 Animated Film of the year in 2009.  Anyway, all that to say that today's Shadow Box Card was inspired by the Up Film.

Picture Perfect Party Stampin' Up!

Do you have a huge selection of stamp sets?  Don't be afraid to mix them up and combine them to make something truly original.  That's what I did in making today's Shadow Box Card for our Pastor and his lovely wife.  By using a combination of Stamp sets, I was able to create a card to celebrate their 20 years of service and to congratulate them on a new adventure.  They started our church 20 years ago and are now moving on to a new position, a new adventure.

UP Film Inspired Card

I love that I was able to say exactly what I wanted to say by combining stamp sets.  Scroll to the bottom of the post for a complete list on Card supplies.  And watch for a Shadow Box Video Tutorial coming up soon here at Stamping Country.  I used an array of beautiful Stampin' Blends to color my balloons.
Freshly Made Sketches

The Up Film wasn't my only card inspiration.  This card sketch by Freshly Made Sketches gave me a jump start for my card front.
