Sea of Textures Graduation Card

How to Make Octopus Graduation Cap Card

Hello Friends,

Are you ready for another Sneak Peek from the 2018-2019 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog?  I honestly never thought that I would purchase this octopus set, but the more that I thought of the possibilities,  I simply couldn't resist.  My first card made with the Sea of Textures Bundle is a timely Graduation Card.  The octopus does look rather scholarly in his graduation cap!  I'll explain more on how to make his cap later in the post, so be sure to scroll down.

Note:  The 2018-2019 Stampin' Up! Catalog begins June 1 at noon Mountain Time.

Sea of Textures Stampin' Up!

What really grabbed me about the Sea of Textures bundle, was all many dies in the Under the Sea die set.  Just look at all those amazing textures and possibilities!  You could skip the octopus altogether and go for a seaside theme.  If you love beaches and sunshine, you're going to love this set.  I see a lot of possibilities for scrapbook layouts too.

Let's talk about today's card.

Sea of Textures Graduation Card

My card base is the new Soft Sea Foam Card Stock.  It only seems natural for my first Sea of Textures Card to be made in the Soft Sea Foam color.  I stamped both the net background and the octopus with Soft Sea Foam Ink.  The octopus die made quick work of cutting out the octopus.  The "Have a wonderful Adventure stamp fit wonderfully with my graduation theme.

Next, I printed out a little calendar page and stamped "Happy Graduation" with the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set.  The the real fun began.  I starting cutting out a variety of different sea textures and I added a few fun embellishments for good measure.

How to Make a Graduation Cap

Now back to that graduation cap.  I cut 2 pieces of Basic Black card stock to make my graduation cap for my octopus, but feel free to use your school colors.  The top piece measures 1" by 1/2".  Then I measured to the center of each side and connected the dots.  That forms the diamond shape.  Simply cut along the lines.  The bottom piece is simply a 1/2" square.

Are you starting to see the possibilities?

I love hearing from you.  Please leave your comments and questions about today's card below.  Simply click the word comments.

Cue the Confetti Card for Any Occasion

Picture Perfect Party Stampin' Up!

Hello,

This is a crazy busy time of year with graduations, birthdays, retirements, weddings, take your pick.  But there's one thing that they all have in common.  They are all a perfect excuse to cue the confetti and make a card.  I'll get back to how you can transform this card for any of these occasions later in the post.

Picture Perfect Party Stampin' Up!

But first let's talk about today's happy color combination.  Today's Cue the Confetti Card was stamped with the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set, I used varying shades of Coastal Cabana, Highland Heather, Pineapple Punch, Lemon Lime Twist and Melon Mambo inks.  Hint: To make the inks a shade lighter, simply "stamp off".  Which is a fancy way of saying stamp first on scrap paper and then onto your project.

Picture Perfect Party Stampin' Up!

I know that I told you that I would lay off my new favorite dies, Stitched Labels Framelits Dies for awhile, but you'll simply have to indulge me another day.  I can't stop myself.  These dies rock!

Do you see the fun designer paper peeking out from behind my stamped panel?  That's the new 2018-2020 In Color Designer Series Paper in Pineapple Punch.

The Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set is available now, but you'll have to wait just a wee bit longer to get your hands on the Stitched Labels dies and the In Color Designer Paper.  The 2018-2019 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog begins June 1, 2018 at noon Mountain Time.

Now about adapting this card to the occasion at hand.  You can use stamps from the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set to keep with the birthday theme or you can venture out to other occasions with the new Itty Bitty Greeting stamp set.  Hint:  The inside of your card is also a perfect excuse to clean up those extra paper scraps from your table and put them to use right away.  I cut my inside panels 3-3/4" x 5".  I can simply insert the one that I need next.
