2-Step Masking Card Making Technique

Lovely As a Tree Stampin' Up!

Hello Friends,

Do you know that there's a stamp set so popular, that it's been around longer than I have been a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator?  I bought my Stampin' Up! starter kit in September 2005 and the Lovely as a Tree stamp set was one of the very first stamp sets that I purchased.  Well, it's that time of year again.  The excitement is building.  Everyone is wondering what will be retiring.   And the speculation abounds on whether or not the Lovely as a Tree stamp set will make the cut and be with us another year.  What do you think?   The Stampin' Up! Retirement List will be announced soon, but while we are waiting I thought that it would be appropriate to show my Lovely as a Tree stamp set a little love and share with you the 2-Step Masking Card Making Technique.

The Masking Card Making Technique has been around for a long time.  Let me show you a little twist on this technique that I call 2-Step Masking.

Birthday Wit One Layer Humorous Birthday Card

We Must Celebrate Stampin' Up!

Hello Friends,

We can't always be serious.  Today's card edges over to the humorous side.  I combined 3 different stamp sets to make it happen.  The Birthday Wit stamp set and the We Must Celebrate stamp set  play a starting role.  And the Picture Perfect Birthday plays a supporting role.

Splitcoast Stampers Color Challenge
The upcoming Stampin' Up! OnStage Event means that I will have a new catalog in my hot little hands this weekend and that has me wondering if we will have a much needed color refresh.  I love color and it's been 5 years since the last refresh.  We know that the 2016-2018 In Colors will be going.  Will other colors be replaced too?

Anyway, Mary from Splitcoast Stampers Color Challenge has chosen this beautiful color combination for this week's Color Challenge.  Do you recognize the colors?  They are from left to right-Flirty Flamingo, Island Indigo and Pool Party.  Won't you join us for this week's color challenge at Splitcoast Stampers Color Challenge?

We Must Celebrate Stampin' Up!

I colored the little "We Must Celebrate" animals with a combination of Watercolor Pencils, Ink and blender pens.  Along with the stamped confetti, I added Tutti-frutti self-adhesive sequins and Glitter & Clear Epoxy Shapes.

True Gentleman Personalized Birthday Card

How to Make a Personalized Birthday Card

Hello Friends,

It's hard to believe that my baby boy just turned 28!  Of course, such a momentous occasion calls for a handmade card, because that's what I do!   Bryan is a Forester so I used the Seasonal Layers Dies along with the Large Numbers die to make a personalized Birthday Card just for him.

Bryan

Bryan is my son with a ready smile.  I snapped this picture of him when we were in the midst of making Maple Syrup.  Happy Birthday, Bryan!

Personalized Birthday Card

I love this sentiment stamp from the Number of years stamp set.  It sums up how I feel about Bryan.  And the True Gentleman Designer Paper has such a masculine feel.  It's a sure fire win for cards for the guys.  If you find yourself having a hard time coming up with ideas for making masculine cards, try starting with a good masculine paper.
